Vectorizing iconic designs.

HD Pokémon Logos

My Role

Graphic Design, Illustration, Printing, Design System

Project Description

As an avid Pokémon card collector I wanted a way to keep my cards organized and visually pleasing when displayed. The farther back you go in the Pokémon timeline, the harder it is to source HD or vector artwork of the logos. Instead of limiting my design system to accommodate low-quality images, I set out to source as many assets as I could and then recreated the dozens of missing logos as needed.

The logos.

Vector assets for many of the new logos can be found as long as you know where to look. However, older sets simply can’t be found and need to be be manually recreated. Starting with the oldest sets, I recreated each logo so that they would print as well as the modern set logos.

The set symbols.

I painstakingly recreated each set symbol, starting from scratch for the vast majority of these. Having a physical card from each set made is a lot easier to get high resolution reference images to start from.

Sharing it all.

Once I created all of these assets, I put everything in a public Google Drive folder and posted links on Reddit for the community to use.
