Project Description

The Health Plan, a reputable healthcare company, was seeking a reliable partner to help them revamp their existing medical website with a modernized branding approach, updated content, and a modular digital design system.

The company's main goal was to create a user-friendly website that offers an optimal user experience, with easy navigation and accessibility features, while ensuring that the website reflects their core values and services. The project would involve a thorough analysis of the existing website, designing a new visual identity, creating updated and relevant content, and implementing a modular digital design system that could scale and adapt to future changes.

The end result would be the first step toward a complete website rebuild that accurately reflects The Health Plan's brand, values, and mission, while providing an intuitive user experience for their customers.

Fixing the mess.

Existing website elements

New stylescape

To create the stylescape, I began by analyzing the existing website and identifying the visual elements that were already present and how they had been used in the past. Knowing that there was an existing brand presence that I needed to maintain, my iterations involved experimenting with softer transitions, organic overlapping of elements, and imagery that felt both fresh and true to the company's existing brand.

A sense of welcome.

First and foremost, the visual design of the home page needed to emphasize a warm and welcoming aesthetic, with inviting colors, imagery, and typography that put users at ease and conveyed a sense of approachability.

Making it easy.

Working with my team, we set out to create a design system that was modular enough to immediately scale across all of the main navigation pages as well as set us up for success for the future complete website overhaul. This meant that all components needed to be responsive and flexible in order to support future asset needs.

Adapting for native.

Since we spent the time building a robust design system for web, it made it extremely easy to format new content to a native mobile space. Borrowing from the design guidelines, we were able to quickly and consistently build a design system specifically for iOS.
